CRM #50 The Time Machine Issue

It’s hard to believe that this is the 50th issue of Cosplay Realm Magazine! On one hand, it feels like we’ve done SO many of these, but on the other it kind of feels like we just started the magazine not too long ago! As we thought about the entire history of the magazine we thought that a theme where you guys could also look back on how far you’ve come in your own cosplay journeys would be perfect for this issue! Thus our Time Machine issue was born!
Inside of this issue you can find personal cosplay journeys from a bunch of different cosplayers, sharing some of their first and earliest cosplay photos compared to their current and favorite cosplay photos! It’s crazy to see how far you guys have come, especially those of you who got your start with cosplay when there were significantly less resources available for this craft!
To celebrate the history of Cosplay Realm Magazine in this issue we also have a few special features! The first is our Cover Revisits feature, where we caught up with a few of CRM’s past cover cosplayers! It was so fun getting to talk to everyone again and learn more about their introduction to cosplay, as well as seeing what they’ve been up to in the time since they’ve been featured on CRM!
Then we have this month’s cover feature, which is with us, the CRM team! It felt fitting to celebrate this big milestone with this shoot on the cover, not only because we’re celebrating CRM’s past, but also because we’re celebrating our own reunion! As you all know, the COVID-19 pandemic that swept across the world led to most people distancing and isolating for a whole year. This year has been incredibly tough on us as business owners, creatives, and as friends. It was straight up painful for each of us not being able to see our best friend the same ways we so often did in the pre-COVID world.
But with both of us being fully vaccinated (on the same day too!) we were FINALLY able to reunite together in person!! And we did one of our favorite things to do together, a cosplay photoshoot! It was actually pretty crazy realizing that our last time shooting together was all the way back at Katsucon 2020. So finally getting together after all that time was incredible, and even after shooting all day in the hot sun in many thick layers of cosplay we were still attached at the hip, and ended up hanging out together until 1AM that night. With each of us being just SO happy to finally be together, we couldn’t help but love the parallels with our cosplays. Leading up to the shoot we kept joking about how this would be our emotional family reunion just like Tanjiro and Nezuko from the anime Demon Slayer.
Over all, the Time Machine issue of Cosplay Realm Magazine is a fun (and emotional) journey through memory lane that we are so excited to share with you all!
