Cosplayer Highlight: Cocoasugar Cosplay

As the Cosplay Realm Magazine Instagram page approached 13K followers we decided to celebrate the milestone and the upcoming holidays and host a giveaway! We gave away a two page interview spread in our 2019 Winter Holiday issue as well as a free print copy of the magazine to our winner! After the giveaway close we were so happy to present CocoaSugarCosplay with this prize! Be sure to pick up the 2019 Winter Holiday issue of Cosplay Realm Magazine to read our full interview with her! In the mean time, we wanted to take some time to highlight her work on here too!
CocoaSugarCosplay is a cosplayer based out of central Pennsylvania with a background in fine art, she taught herself to sew and has been cosplaying for over ten years!
Recently she cosplayed as Hannah Alexander’s Princess Tiana design (pictured left) after finding out that the artist would be attending Katsucon. “I hadn’t really done any cosplays that complex until then; I found that I really enjoy doing detail work, so I’m looking to do similar cosplays going forward.” CocoaSugarCosplay told us in our interview with her. For this cosplay she custom dyed fabric for the dress and the illusion mesh to custom match her skin tone.
You can also find CocoaSugarCosplay as the champion of the Blerdcon 2019 cosplay contest! It must have been such an exciting experience, especially since it was her first time at Blerdcon and her first time entering a competition! She told us a bit about that amazing day and said that “ If anyone is on the fence, give competition a try because walking across the stage is really fun! I’ve definitely caught the competition bug and plan on entering more in the future.”
