CRM #36 The Fire Emblem Issue
Written by Aesthel
Our latest issue release, the Fire Emblem issue, has to be Cosplay Realm’s biggest issue yet! And still there were so many more people we wanted to include in this issue! The entire Fire Emblem fandom really came through for this issue and we can’t thank you guys enough for all the support and incredible submissions we received this month! From the series start way back with Shadow Dragon all the way to it’s newest release Three Houses, we were so excited to see so many people come together to make this issue happen! With this issue coming in at a whopping 92 full pages of Fire Emblem content, there is so much to love this month!
This month’s cover feature is on Somerset Sews and Sorairo Days. Both are very prolific creators within the Fire Emblem fandom, so it felt really special to feature them in this issue. Bono, known as Somerset Sews online, is a cosplayer and full time commissioner. You may have seen their work on the likes of Matthew Mercer, Joe Zieja, and many cosplayers all around the community! While they make cosplays for many fandoms, Fire Emblem has to be what they are known for the most. When we asked her about it in our interview, Bono stated that “I actually started trying to total up how many Fire Emblem costumes I have made between coms and personal project for this and after I passed 150 I just gave up - so there's clearly something I keep coming back to.”. Be sure to follow Somerset Sews on Twitter, Instagram, and on their website! Meanwhile Sarah, also known as Sorairo Days, is a photographer and cosplayer herself too! Sarah as previously been featured in our Female Photographer issue, and we really loved getting to catch up with her this month! She spoke with us in her interview about the ways that Fire Emblem, especially Three Houses specifically, has reinvigorated her passions and creativity. Check out Sorairo Days cosplays and photography at Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook!
Also to be found in this issue is some of our Katsucon 2020 coverage! We were thrilled to be brought on as press to Katsucon again this year. This con is always a magical experience that we have such a fun time at, and this year was no different! Katsucon was absolutely full of great Fire Emblem cosplays this year from front to back, and we were able to shoot with so many awesome cosplayers this year! Inside this issue you can find a full article on the many Fire Emblem cosplayers of Katsucon, and be sure to check out the Convention Coverage section of the Cosplay Realm website for more about Katsu this year!
This month we also got the opportunity to interview Yaya Han! She is a world famous professional cosplayer, but more importantly she is a massive Fire Emblem fan! We loved getting to chat with her about her newest cosplay, the Enlightened One Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses and learn a little about the process behind this cosplay. We were also super interested in learning about the business side of Yaya’s work, asking her about her collaborations with companies like JOANN and McCall’s. Be sure to check out Yaya’s upcoming book “Yaya Han's World of Cosplay” , releasing on May 5th 2020. Preorders are available now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Indiebound! Yaya can be followed on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and her Website.
While we don’t have every Fire Emblem game represented in this issue, we tried to include all of the games that we had received submissions for! Going way back to Fire Emblem’s roots with Shadow Dragon, to the newest iterations of the series, there are so many classics to celebrate in the Fire Emblem issue of Cosplay Realm! But of course by far Three Houses received the most! We loved seeing the love and true passion that you guys had for this series and its characters pour through this month, and this issue is going to be a must have for any Fire Emblem die hard out there!
